Travel

1. If you travel to Atlanta by plane, you will be arriving at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, “the busiest airport in the world”! There are three terminals at this airport: International, North, and South, with North and South actually being opposite sides of the same building.

  • Travelers from South and Latin America will arrive at the International Terminal and clear customs there.

  • Travelers from Canada will clear customs in Canada and will therefore arrive at the domestic terminal, probably the North Terminal, as Delta Airlines occupies the entire South Terminal. If you checked baggage in Canada, that must be collected at the International Terminal. There is an airport train that will take you there.

  • The airport is 30-45 minutes from Agnes Scott College depending on traffic. Rental cars, taxis, and Uber drivers are all available at the airport, but finding an Uber ride is a bit complicated. Here are the instructions from the airport website:

“The designated rideshare pickup location at ATL is in the North Economy parking lot. To get there, you can:

1. Go through baggage claim

2. Take the escalators between doors N2 and N3 down to the lower level

3. Follow the orange signs to the Economy lot “

If you are arriving by taxi or Uber, have them drop you 137 S. MacDonough St/West Parking Deck. There will be signage outside the lot marked “registration” directing you to Campbell Hall dormitory.

2. You can also use the Atlanta subway system, known as MARTA, from the airport. The Airport Station is nestled in-between the north and south baggage claim areas on the west end of the domestic terminal. Agnes Scott's campus is a short three-block walk from a MARTA station. Take the East-West line to Decatur Station. Exit the terminal on the Church Street side and head south (toward the corner of Trinity and Church). Use the pedestrian tunnel to pass beneath the railroad tracks; you will emerge at the College Avenue entrance to campus. Continue straight to the Main “Agnes Scott” Hall and from there follow the signage marked “registration” to Campbell Hall dormitory..

3. If you are driving yourself to the conference, have your GPS take you to the Agnes Scott College West Parking Deck, which is right across the street from the college. Parking there is free. When you exit the parking deck, follow the signage marked “registration” to Campbell Hall dormitory.

You will pick up your conference packet and be directed toward your dormitory room inside Campbell Hall. The registration table will be staffed from at least 1:00 to 5:00 pm. If you arrive after 5:00 pm, follow the signage marked “event” to the Evans Dining Hall, where someone will direct you further.

  • If you plan to arrive before 1:00 pm, or if you are arriving on a day other than 24 July, please let Gail (English) or Jolie (Spanish/Portuguese) know your plans in advance (see Contact page).

You will be asked to indicate your preference during the online ticketing process.

Vendor Marketplace

We have invited a limited number of vendors to set up a table to sell their wares at the conference. Our goal here was primarily to make it possible for certain individuals to attend the conference by selling their handcrafted items, but it was also to offer conference participants an opportunity to purchase items they would otherwise have difficulty finding. We expect to have handmade items from Peru and Colombia, beeswax candles, and quilted wall hangings, as well as a selection of books from Steiner Books being sold as a fundraiser for the conference. The exact list of vendors will be provided as we get closer to the conference date.

You will be able to pay any of the vendors by U.S. check except for the table with Peruvian and Colombian handcrafts, which need to be purchased using cash in U.S. dollars.
